Meta-VR: A Dynamic Approach to Building Interactive 3D Web Applications

چکیده

The paper describes a novel approach to building interactive 3D web applications. In this approach, called Meta-VR, an application consists of a number of interconnected visualization models. Each virtual scene sent to a user is dynamically generated based on one of the available visualization models and the current set of data. Before generating a virtual scene, the system automatically determines which visualization model should be used. The selection of the visualization model is performed by a metamodel and is based on a number of criteria such as characteristics of the dataset, position in a virtual world, target presentation platforms, and user preferences. Two 3D web applications, based the Meta-VR approach, are also described in this paper.
